Issue: On one electric bus, the bolts that secure the high-voltage battery may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolts could loosen or break and cause the high-voltage battery to separate from the bus. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A bus that is disabled could result in a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury. Additionally, a high-voltage battery that detaches from the bus could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify the owner by mail and provide them with instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, tighten or replace the mounting bolts for the high-voltage battery. The service manual will also be updated to specify how to properly tighten the bolts and the recommended service for them.
