On certain trailers, there is an error in the vehicle identification number (VIN). The 14th digit of the VIN was incorrectly listed as "4", instead of "3". As a result, the trailer manufacturer cannot be properly identified using the VIN. Canadian regulations provide a format the VIN number that must be followed.
